Póló's Family Tree

Sarah Mortimer

Sarah Mortimer was born in Mount Temple Road in 1906.

She was a shop assistant (in Christy Monaghan's, 433a SCR) and subsequently a civil servant in the Department of Social Welfare (Labour Exchange).

She married Luke Dwyer in 1942 and, for about 7 years, ran the Gem (shop) in Howth. She had two children, Paul and Martina, while in Howth.

The family subsequently moved to Dollymount Park and shortly afterwards to Orwell Gardens where they stayed with her mother, Sarah Burgess (m. Mortimer).

In 1954 they moved to Ballybrack, Co. Dublin, where she ran the CNC shop until around 1970. She continued living in Ballybrack, until 1987 when she was very ill and went to stay with her daughter, Martina, in Bray, Co. Wicklow, where she died in October of that year.
