Gough
I came across this "poem" when I first entered the Civil Service in the late
sixties. I was a
Dubliner but it was a Kerryman who introduced me to this modern piece of Dublin
oral
tradition. I then ferreted out the picture from the Lawrence collection in the
National
Library of Ireland and you, the viewer are now the beneficiary of the coming
together of the oral and visual tradition in this unique presentation.
Unfortunately, the standard of the monologue falls well below that of your
average Dublin wit.
